Lakeland Massage COVID-19 Risk Assessment

In line with government guidelines I will be returning to mobile massage appointments from 12th April 2021. Your safety is my absolute priority and I want to assure you I am doing everything in my control to keep you safe and minimise the risk of transmission.

With the support of Jing Massage Training and experts from the massage industry, I have thoroughly analysed the guidelines for ‘Keeping workers and clients safe during COVID-19 in close contact services’ and completed an updated risk assessment based on this.

The easing of lockdown understandably has mixed emotions for people and COVID-19 has caused much anxiety for many. I want to reduce this as much as possible by letting you know the measures I have in place. If you have any further queries please do get in touch and I will be very happy to talk them over.

STEPS I HAVE TAKEN TO KEEP YOU SAFE

  1. Consultation and covid-19 screening via online video or telephone call 48 hours before appointment, to reduce face to face contact time.

  2. Recording my temperature and checking for symptoms daily in line with NHS guidelines. I will cancel appointments and contact you if there is any cause for concern.

  3. Full PPE worn (visor, IIR mask, gloves) and my uniform will be changed outside and between clients, to mitigate the risk of transmission on materials. My shoes will be left outside.

  4. New wipeable impenetrable covers on massage table, face cradle and bolsters to be sanitised before and after treatment. I will set up/down with you in a separate room. I will also be using a fully sanitised car boot liner and my massage bag will be left in the car.

  5. Clean covers, towels and PPE will be kept in separate sanitised containers for each client to avoid cross contamination. Used items will be kept in sealed containers before being fully sterilised.

  6. Thorough hand washing before and after treatment and cleaning.

  7. Reduced supine (face up) treatment time replaced with side lying or seated techniques. No face massage for now to avoid ‘high risk zone’.

  8. Contactless payments and bank transfers preferred, with card machine fully sanitised. Cash to be placed in sealed envelopes.

  9. Self-care advice and exercises sent via email to client or printed out, to reduce face to face time.

  10. Your contact details will be kept for 21 days to assist the NHS Test and Trace service.

CHANGES I NEED YOUR HELP WITH

  1. Choose a room close to the entrance of your home with a clear walkway (I will be unable to move any furniture or open any doors). Ventilate the room by opening windows and/or doors before, during and after the treatment.

  2. Wash hands thoroughly before and after the appointment.

  3. Please wear a face covering if possible when I arrive and leave. This does not need to be worn during the massage when face down.

  4. Have a pen handy to sign the consent form. The consultation will be carried out online or by telephone 48 hours before appointment.

  5. Please let me know if you are experiencing any covid-19 symptoms before I enter your home. My cancellation policy will be waived.

I’m so looking forward to helping people again through hands-on appointments.
